Little Red Riding Hood is a mass interactive game for movie theatre audiences, targeted at children and their parents/guardians. The game is loosely based on a well-known fairytale, “Little Red Riding Hood”.
The game is designed for mass playing in large venues, such as movie theatres, schools, stadiums, museums, etc. The main content of the game is to be displayed on the large screen. For game controllers we take advantage of popular Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) – audience’s smartphone serves as a game controller. However, audience’s mobile devices are not only used as game controllers, but also as second screens that enhance and complement the experience of the large screen.
The interaction design for the Little Red Riding Hood is based on concepts most children are already familiar with: “find the difference between pictures”, “assemble a puzzle”, “fire a slingshot”, and “illuminate path with a torchlight”. Moreover, it is assumed that not the entire audience may actively participate in playing; the game is design as a visual novel with simulated or actual interaction, depending on the audience behavior.
